The port bow Reaper that occasionally can come up through the framework is the next nearest, and often now the first Reaper encounter. Or maybe just because they decided to close up the alternate port side under entrance to the Engine Room that it was intended to be guarding. Sammy was removed from the game in Early Access, apparently because it was very demoralizing to get eaten a few times before you could manage to get into the Aurora. There were several funny fan-made cartoons featuring Sammy. It was the Reaper that literally EVERYONE encountered first, usually died from, and learned the essential Reaper-lore from ("Avoid Them !!"). In VERY Early Access, before my time, Sammy the Safety Sea Serpent was a Reaper that was positioned in a hollow along the mid-port side of the Aurora. It may be a moderately rare coincidence of their wanderings, but well with game parameters. In short, I don't think that there is any glitching involved in the distribution of fauna you are seeing. Not unheard of that one or more would wander into a neighboring area for awhile. Including the immediately adjacent Mushroom Forest. There are bonesharks native to several of the surrounding biomes. I have seen an ampeel, presumably from the Bulb Zone, wander up into that weird neck of the Mushroom Forest. I know, because I have hurt that Under-Mountain Reaper and driven it there, previously. (Actually, Reapers try to hunt the ampeels, and get burned for it.) If it gets damaged enough in original patrol area, the Mountain Island Reaper WILL retreat right into the area I think you are talking about. For example: an ampeel MIGHT have wandered into that northern neck of Mushroom Forest, within aggro range of the Reaper, and ampeels and Reapers DO fight. That one patrols at about -130m, and is somewhat fenced north by the mountain flank and the ridge of the big archĮither of those Reapers could have been pulled out of original patrol area, by "something".Īt a guess, if it is actually IN the Kelp Forest in that area, it is probably the one from east of the Mountain. That spawn point is in the Mountains biome, north beyond the big stone arch/bridge over the northern "neck" of the NE Mushroom Forest, about half way along the steep eastern face of the underwater portion of the Island. There is also a well-known, often encountered Reaper that spawns somewhat closer to that Kelp ridge, but north. The nearest lobe of the Kelp Forest biome is a rather prominent West to East ridge about 650m+ WNW of the port bow corner of the Aurora, across the width of the NE Mushroom Forest from the Aurora and that spawn point. It tends to patrol over the cliffs just to the NW of the Aurora bow framework, at ~ -110 to ~ -75m. the shoulder of the Crash Zone that is across the front of the Aurora wreck. the southern edge of the Bulb Zone, and the southern parrot's beak of the NE Mushroom Forest, The most often encountered Reaper in the game (sometimes known as Sammy Jr.) spawns at/in the vicinity of 1112 -87 287, a few meters north of the remaining port bow corner of the Aurora superstructure, and right over the 3-way junction between
I also never heard the transmission the Sunbeam makes to you, anywhere you are located, that informs you they are attempting to land, so I'm confident it never happened. No I never received the countdown notice and I went to the island and the Sunbeam never appeared. I've gone to these places multiple times and they still haven't spawned anywhere.
I usually find the hull pieces first and then the bridge and engine. I've gone to all the wreck sites, all around the Aurora, inside the Aurora, the Jellyshroom Cave, gone through all the red grass zones and the coral tree zones. I mentioned I've played through about 2 dozen times. Yes I know where all the fragments spawn. Now I also have this one alongside the Aurora. I already have two reapers at the back of the Aurora and at least one at the head of the Aurora. That is why it's so strange to have a reaper spawn there, near the kelp forest that I have my base. I am referring to the Mushroom forest that is near the alien weapon landmass, adjacent to the part of the Aurora that you enter.
